FUNCTION CONTROL OPTION COMMAND

The name of our new album is FUNCTION CONTROL OPTION COMMAND. (a.k.a. fn ctrl opt cmd)

The first song will be released to Canadian radio and iTunes in the 1st week of January. Followed by a new single each month (usually the 1st Tuesday). There will be 12 songs in total, with a physical release planned for early 2013 with all the songs and some bonus material.

4 songs have been tracked so far. 3 are fully mixed. 1 song features 2 rappers from Edmonton.

We hope you enjoy the new material as much as we've been enjoying the process of writing and recording it. We're looking forward to playing these songs live as well.

Plans for 2012

We will be releasing our new album as 1 single per month for all 12 months in 2012. The album will be called "Hey There Blimpy Boy". There are some collaborations planned with up-and-coming artists as well. We're looking forward to sharing the process of making the songs with our fans, and we hope to tour as much as possible in 2012 as well.

My Sister Ocean is the 1st band to release 1 single per month to radio, iTunes, and online - they did so in 2010 with their album The Month of Tuesday. 3 of those singles entered the the Top 100 Active Rock Chart, with one song peaking at #52. 1 song entered the Top 100 on the Alt Rock Chart. In November 2010, their song "Falling Away" was featured on Air Canada's enRoute radio, and they played the Grey Cup Main Stage in Edmonton opening for Bif Naked, Thornley/Big Wreck, and Emerson Drive.

Their music video for "Please Don't Say It's So" was directed by band frontman Holden, and nominated for an Edmonton Music Award in the Best Video category. The winning video was for Suspect 3 (formerly Mockteerah), which ironically was also directed by Holden.

My Sister Ocean has won the regional Canadian Radiostar Songwriting Competition twice. In 2007, they were flown to Toronto to compete in the nationals to showcase their song "Searching for Something More", and did a songwriting session with the late Haydain Neale (of Jacksoul). In 2009, they were again flown to Toronto, this time for the song "IndoctriNation", and did a songwriting session with Amy Sky, as well as performing alongside Andy Kim (Sugar, Sugar, Rock Me Gently) at the showcase.

The band has also headlined several sold out shows in Edmonton and Calgary since 2005, and has played several festivals, including Campus Chaos 2009 (Hinder, Lil Jon, State of Shock, Bif Naked).

In addition to playing in My Sister Ocean, Holden and drummer Eugenio Pacileo are the backing musicians for several artists.

WE DIE ALONE #85 NATIONALLY THIS WEEK

Alan Cross featured We Die Alone on Monday, then proceeded to feature our February single Burn the Truth today [Wednesday].

That's 2 NATIONAL features in 3 days. That's a big deal for us considering most stations still haven't added our songs to rotation yet. Some have - Lloydminster THE GOAT and ICEBERG on Sirius Satellite have both have We Die Alone in rotation for 3 weeks now.

WE DIE ALONE #299 NATIONALLY THIS WEEK

January 13th, 2009 - THE MONTH OF TUESDAY ALREADY GETTING NATIONAL ATTENTION - Commercial stations in Barrie, Fort McMurray, Lloydminster, Sirius Satellite, and CBC have all featured/added WE DIE ALONE in its 1st week. Help the band climb the charts by requesting WE DIE ALONE on your local rock station. ExploreMusic will be featuring the band nationally on radio and their website on Feb 1st, stay tuned for that!

College radio will be receiving the 1st EP in late February, just ahead of the March 2nd release date.

MSO SET TO RELEASE ONE SINGLE PER MONTH IN 2010

Good and bad news from Albertan bass & drum duo My Sister Ocean...

The good news is, My Sister Ocean has an album's worth of new songs written & recorded. The bad news is any fans wanting to hear all the songs back to back will have to wait ten months since the band has decided to release one song per month until October. Here's the deal:

1. The first Tuesday of each month, a new song will be available on iTunes and sent to radio nationwide.

2. The band plans on releasing 3 EPs during the year leading up to the full album release.

3. In November, a full-length CD of all the songs will be released. That CD will be called "The Month of Tuesday"

The first single, "We Die Alone", will be released January 5th. Followed by "Burn The Truth" in February, and "Please Don't Say It's So" in March. [Followed by 7 more songs, 1 each month]

Members of the band's mailing list will also be the first to hear B sides/extras and there will also be monthly and random draws for giveaways of merchandise such as new T-Shirts, EPs, tickets to shows, stickers, exclusive listens, and more.

Check out http://www.mysisterocean.com on the first Tuesday of each month to stream each new song. Songs will generally be available on iTunes that same day or within a few days.

Physical EPs will be for sale at http://music-on-demand.ca, Megatunes, and the band's shows.

Well well well.... are we at the end of another year already??

Here's the MSO year in review coles notes... (read the bolded parts for a more condensed version!)

Feb 13th, release party for Autograph EP to over 400 people at the Urban Lounge.

[That week, found out MSO won the regional Canadian Radiostar Songwriting Competition for the 2nd time. Prize was a trip to Toronto and a bunch of cool stuff. The band also won in 2007.]

March 13-15th, 2009. Attended Canadian Music Week 2009 in Toronto. Performed with Lee Kim and met Amy Sky, Nif Naked, Arkells, Hey Rosetta.

May 1st, played charity show at The Starlite Room.

May 23rd, headlined the Urban Lounge. Over 500 in attendance!

June 30th, headlined Canada Day show at Urban Lounge.

July 24th, 1st day of recording began on the new My Sister Ocean full-length record.

Sept 17th, MSO plays lunch-hour acoustic set at University of Alberta for Alberta Arts Week to a packed crowd.

Sept 25th, MSO plays Campus Chaos. Over 5000 in attendance!!!! Other bands on the bill, Hinder, Bif Naked, Social Code, State of Shock, Rev Theory, Lil Jon, Tupelo Honey, Age of Daze, Krome, Armchair Cynics, Soul Side In)

Halloween, Holden and Erin from Jezibelle rock over 600 people dressed as the White Stripes at the Starlite Room. (video in video section of website)

Dec 5th, MSO plays Rock 4 Santa charity show at the Pawn Shop.

Also Dec 5th, MSO releases THE FIRST SNOW, the band's first holiday single. It is featured nationally on radio (including a Top 40 Chart Position in EDMONTON on Sonic FM!!) and released on a 2 track CD/Xmas card. Also available on iTunes. (link on our website)

Throughout the year, MSO received airplay all over Canada. A special thanks to Danny Fournier at Oddball Productions for helping us with our radio & marketing efforts as a band.

Also, getting the word out about MSO is not an easy job. We need help. We get help from our Street Team members. We'd like to thank our Edmonton Street Team for the awesome support this year!
